Project Overview

Time Wash is a car care service that lets customers schedule and pay for a car wash from their phone. The business already had an app in the market and needed a new generation of it: cross-platform mobile apps backed by a modern API and an admin web app for running day-to-day operations.

Verdant DevCore Technologies researched the existing app and the business’s operations, then delivered the iOS and Android apps, the backend APIs and the third-party integrations for payments, vehicle verification, notifications and content delivery.

Business Challenge

Booking a car wash should take seconds, but it involves a lot of moving parts: the customer’s vehicle, the wash location, the time slot, the wash type and the payment. Time Wash also sells recurring wash plans (daily, weekly and monthly), which the product had to handle alongside one-off bookings.

The new app had to cover all of this on both iOS and Android without doubling the development effort, verify vehicle details against UK records, take card payments in the app, and keep customers informed by push notification and email. The operations team also needed full control over bookings, schedules, plans, categories and locations.

Why Time Wash Chose Verdant DevCore Technologies

Time Wash needed a team that understood both the product and the operation behind it. Before proposing anything, we spent time on the business’s operational needs, the proposed idea and the existing app, and used that research to plan the new product.

We proposed a cross-platform build in React Native, so one codebase serves both iOS and Android, and an agile process with one- to two-week sprints, each ending with agreed features delivered. Planning and the UI/UX designs for the core screens were finished first, so development started from a signed-off design.

The Solutions

We built cross-platform iOS and Android apps in React Native, a backend API and an admin web app. In the app, customers can:

  • Create an account, log in, reset their password and manage their profile.
  • Add their car’s details and photos.
  • Choose a location, time slot and wash category, then confirm a booking.
  • Subscribe to a daily, weekly or monthly wash plan.
  • Save debit or credit cards and pay in the app.
  • Receive push and email notifications about their bookings.

Under the apps sit role-based access control, user and permissions management, notifications and application security. Integrations cover card payments, UK vehicle verification (UKDV), push and email notifications, and a content delivery network for fast media. When development was complete, the apps were released to Time Wash’s existing App Store and Google Play accounts.

Impact

Booking a wash now takes a few taps. Customers pick a location, a time and a wash type, add their vehicle once, and pay with a saved card. Notifications at each step mean they always know the status of their booking.

Because one React Native codebase serves both iOS and Android, Time Wash gets the same features on both platforms and simpler maintenance. Recurring wash plans support repeat business, and the admin tools let the team manage schedules, locations and bookings from one place.

Key Takeaways

  • Research before you build. Studying the existing Time Wash app and the business’s operations first made sure the new product solved real operational problems, not just interface ones.
  • Cross-platform development pays off for service apps. One React Native codebase gave Time Wash iOS and Android apps with matching features in a shorter timeline.
  • Great booking experiences depend on strong integrations. Payments, vehicle verification, notifications and a CDN make up much of what customers experience as a fast, reliable app.
